  • Overview

    The On-Call Technical Editor will work with Poulsbo staff and remote Selaska Environmental Services (SES) offices when necessary to provide editing services to ensure high quality documents required by SES clients.


    Technical Editing as required by SES (e.g., work plans, groundwater monitoring reports, technical memoranda, operations and maintenance manuals, statements of qualifications (SOQs), letter proposals, and other marketing publications).

    • Technical read of document for grammatical and structural correctness.
    • Correct more extensive errors in grammar and punctuation.
    • Ensure consistency in tone, terminology, usage, and format.
    • Check logical transitions between sentences and between paragraphs.
    • Check headers for clarity, conciseness, and consistency.
    • Provide SES with technical review and comments in TRACK CHANGES mode of Word.
    • Work with technical project managers to meet contractual quality control requirements for documents.
    • Work in a fast-paced team environment with short turn-around times.
    • Assist others with editorial or paste-up tasks as needed including word processing.
    • Other duties as assigned.


    Duties may be updated from time to time to better reflect current workload conditions. All work will be performed to specifications of the subject Contract Task Order and according to instructions from the authorized SES representative, generally the Task Order Manager. Work will be scheduled by the Production Manager. Specific tasking will be provided in writing (e‑mail or letter) and will include task completion turnaround time and level of editing effort. If the requested schedule is not feasible, an alternative schedule that is feasible shall be proposed.

    Training and Education:

    • Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Journalism, Environmental Science, or related field

    Additional Skills:

    • Experience with government contracts preferred.
    • Advanced knowledge using Microsoft Word (up to 2010), Publisher, MS Office, Outlook, and Adobe products.

    Additional Requirements:

    This position is subject to satisfactory completion of a background check and reference check, A valid driver’s license is also required for this position.
