  • Overview

    Sealaska Technical Services (STS) is seeking a skilled, intermediate level Network/Electrical Engineer (Electrical Engineer II) to join our growing team located in Richland, WA. STS is a growing, progressive business that provides environmental consulting, technology integration and deployment, systems engineering, environmental monitoring, and construction management services to a variety of governmental and commercial clients at job sites located around the world.  We are looking for enthusiastic candidates to participate in network design, network field engineering, systems testing and troubleshooting, and proposal support for projects involving multiple engineering disciplines.  Candidates should be familiar with IP network systems and cybersecurity, instrumentation and controls, and communications hardware and software. The primary thrust of this role will be the design and installation of commercial IP network and control systems. Qualified candidates should be self-motivated, able to work in a team environment and be willing to travel both domestically and overseas.  

    Responsibilities

    • Evaluates IP network systems and products, components, and applications through applying knowledge of IP network engineering concepts and materials.
    • Provides network conceptual and detailed designs, methods and materials specifications, equipment administration, cost estimating, feasibility studies, and support of procurement and construction activities.
    • Provides guidance and recommendations of cybersecurity solutions needed to meet the system requirements.
    • Evaluates existing and proposed systems for recommended cybersecurity improvements.
    • Makes sourcing recommendations for network products by studying customer requirements; researching and testing manufacturing and assembly methods and materials.
    • Assures system performance through thorough testing of the finished system.
    • Prepares system performance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
    • Perform field maintenance (network, software, and hardware) on currently operational systems.
    • Defines system requirements and develops optimized subsystem configurations.
    • Makes informed technical recommendations to keep integrated systems operational by following manufacturer's instructions and established procedures; works directly with equipment manufacturers to diagnose and remedy network system performance problems.
    • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
    • Provide support creating technical and cost proposals.
    • Other related duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    • Must be able to clearly communicate design details, specifications, and operating requirements to other team members in support of business decision-making.​
    • Ability to lead and/or direct the work of entry-level staff.
    • Demonstrated ability to communicate and work proactively with project stakeholders requiring strong skills of diplomacy.
    • Proven track record of successfully working in foreign countries where there are different cultures and nonstandard business practices.      
    • Willingness to work a flexible schedule.
    • Willingness to travel both domestically and internationally up to 30-50%.
    • Performs a variety of tasks in working under general supervision; a certain degree of creativity and latitude required.

    Training and Education:

    • Minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering , Computer Engineering or Computer Science
    • 5-8 years of Network or Engineering experience
    • Experience with SCADA software (Citect SCADA, ClearSCADA, Wonderware) preferred.
    • .NET Development and MS SQL experience preferred.
    • CCENT required.
    • CompTIA Security+ preferred.
    • A US citizen willing to travel up between 25-50% time
    • OSHA 30-Hour Construction Certification
    • First Aid/CPR/BBP Certified
