Sealaska Technical Services (STS) is a critical subcontractor on the N3B Los Alamos LLC team and will be providing program management and technical services in support of the ground & surface water monitoring program at the U.S. Department of Energy’s Los Alamos National Laboratory.

STS is currently seeking an experienced Work Control Planner. While working to achieve N3B LLCC objectives, will ensure all activities and operations are performed in a safe and deliberate manner; will maintain required safety, security and operational training; assure procedural and regulatory compliance; and make safety and security an integral part of every task; including taking the necessary steps to stop work if continuing the job is unsafe or compromises security.
Responsible for preparing and managing the project schedule
Responsible for providing updates required by the T2S PM or N3B Project Manager and/or project staff
May negotiate lead times with suppliers and manage schedules for timely delivery
Prepares, reviews, and issues equipment and/or system modification, corrective maintenance, and/or preventative maintenance work packages in accordance with applicable procedures and regulations
Analyzes time and material requirements for work activity
Assists in the preparation of detailed specifications for materials and labor estimates
Assists in the development of step-by-step instructions for work
Tracks and expedites established priority of work packages
Assists in preparing and/or reviews efficient and specific instructions for the isolation, containment or de-energizing various mechanical, physical, electrical, chemical and/or radiological systems according to established procedures and regulations
Performs various functional and administrative activities in conjunction with the primary work control/work package development including, but not limited to, permit development, testing requirements, documentation generation, records management, database information management, retrieval and review, and/or training
Understands and adheres to all Laboratory and industry regulatory guidance and governance specific to work control and planning
Ensures all work control results, materials, processes, and final products meet quality specifications and are completed according to established requirements
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, or equivalent; however, a combination of education and relevant experience wherein the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the position’s duties and responsibilities have been adequately demonstrated is acceptable
Unique knowledge of and broad experience with unique and/or complex work control, materials management, and/or mechanical maintenance
Extensive knowledge and understanding of work hazards, safety practices, operating configuration, and lock-out/tag-out policies and procedures in unique and/or complex facilities
In-depth understanding and ability to interpret various unique and/or complex mechanical and electrical documents, blueprints, drawings, and schematics
Ability to fully utilize and manipulate a computerized work management system in maintaining and tracking work- planning activities
Ability to fully conceptualize and communicate major elements of work control and planning for unique and/or complex activities to both technical and non-technical personnel
Ability to adapt procedures, tools and/or equipment to meet special needs
Ability to perform duties and tasks that are varied and complex
Ability to serve as a resource to others in the resolution of problems and issues
Ability to recommend approaches for new or improved processes
Ability to work with broad objectives, with latitude to determine the best way to accomplish tasks
Ability to lead certain aspects of a task or project
Ability to work in a team-oriented project environment
Other Desirable Knowledge and Experience:
Extensive experience and demonstrated skill in conducting research, investigating alternative solutions, and recommending solutions on unique and/or complex problems affecting work control and planning
Demonstrated exceptional skill in the preparation and presentation of work control reports.
Extensive knowledge and understanding of the Laboratory's work control and facility policies, practices, and procedures
Extensive knowledge and understanding of legal requirements and environmental impacts affecting work control and planning
Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) required
Skill and ability to perform complex professional tasks independently, and to analyze and develop innovative solutions to problems
Level of language skills, mathematical skills, communication skills, reasoning ability and computer skills necessary to perform essential functions of the job
