Gain experience and exposure to the full scope of Human Resources responsibilities at Sealaska this summer. As the Human Resources Intern, you will participate and contribute to the day to day workflow of the HR team and learn workplace dynamics. Projects will span all functions of HR – including recruiting, onboarding/offboarding, performance management, benefits, employee relations, compliance, administration, ethics, and compensation.


This internship can be based in a remote or telecommuting location, where you will primarily collaborate with human resources team members located in Seattle, WA.


  • Interact with and leverage workplace office tools, especially Outlook, Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Office, etc.
  • Provide research on compliance
  • Assist in applicant searches, tracking, and interviews
  • Assist with organization of files and other administrative duties
  • Assist with employee onboarding and offboarding duties



  • Familiar with Microsoft Office software applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Experience successfully managing time and tasks
  • Ability to perform research and find answers using the tools provided
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing
  • Ability to learn and take direction
  • Demonstrate interest in Human Resources
  • Sealaska shareholder, descendant of a shareholder, or spouse of a shareholder
  • At least 18 years of age by start date
  • Must be currently enrolled in college or a vocational-technical school or a recent graduate (1-2 years) and have completed one year of school by the start date
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States

Preferred Additional Requirements:

  • Pursuing degree in business or human resources, or related major (psychology, sociology, history or English)
  • Preferred GPA over 2.5
  • Strong critical thinking and research skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to both collaborate with a team and work independently
  • Self-starter with ability to adapt to a fast-paced work environment
  • Ability to travel, as needed
