Overview

If you are pursuing a degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or architectural field and are eager to create a safe and highly productive workplace, we want to hear from you. As the Construction Site Superintendent Intern, you will work alongside Project Managers and Estimators on a wide variety of design and construction projects from heavy civil engineering construction to building construction to renovation. Through this internship, you will gain hands-on site experience and mentorship in what it means to be a Project Manager and Site Superintendent. We will provide the training and guidance necessary to successfully complete assigned tasks. You will gain an overall understanding of construction site quality control processes, health and safety procedures, and the ability to interact with managers and subcontractors on job sites.

This internship can be based in a remote or telecommuting location, where you will primarily collaborate with construction team members located in Seattle, WA. There will be the opportunity to travel to active construction project sites throughout the duration of the summer.

Responsibilities

  • Apply project and construction management best practices
  • Work alongside Site Superintendents and Project Managers to work with owner and facility staff to ensure understanding of construction process, project progress, timelines, schedule, and budget
  • Support the construction group in coordinating on-site project team, contractors, schedule, owner correspondence, drawing management, submittals, approvals, and deliveries

Qualifications

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Pursuing a degree in construction management, civil or mechanical engineering, or architecture
  • Sealaska shareholder, descendant of a shareholder, or spouse of a shareholder
  • At least 18 years of age by start date
  • Must be currently enrolled in college or a vocational-technical school or a recent graduate (1-2 years) and have completed one year of school by the start date
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States

 

Preferred Additional Requirements:

  • Familiar with Microsoft Office software applications, including Excel and Word
  • Preferred GPA over 2.5
  • Strong critical thinking and research skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to both collaborate with a team and work independently
  • Self-starter with ability to adapt to a fast-paced work environment
  • Ability to travel, as needed
