Come apply your accounting education at Sealaska for the summer! Working with our teams, you will gain experience in the various functions of an accounting department including accounts payable, fixed assets, cash reconciliations, investments, and tax accounting. This immersive experience is designed to give you hands-on practice applying your education to the real world. Corporate accounting is a very diverse field and the purpose of this internship is to provide you with multiple opportunities in the field of accounting so that you can see what sparks your interest. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to complete a special project of your choice during your internship that involves making a recommendation to the accounting team on how to reengineer a current process. This is an opportunity to use everything you have learned in school and in practice over the summer to improve an existing accounting practice. 

While this internship can take place remotely or via telecommute, it is preferred that this intern work in person at the Sealaska Corporation headquarters in Juneau, AK.


  • Perform cash reconciliations
  • Work with the accounts payable team to process purchase orders, invoices, and post journal entries
  • Support the corporate tax accounting team
  • Prepare fixed asset and depreciation schedules
  • Present a recommendation to the team on how to improve a current accounting process



  • Completed one or more intermediate level accounting course
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
  • Sealaska shareholder, descendant of a shareholder, or spouse of a shareholder
  • At least 18 years of age by start date
  • Must be currently enrolled in college or a vocational-technical school or a recent graduate (1-2 years) and have completed one year of school by the start date
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Major or minor in Accounting
  • Junior/Senior class standing
  • At least a 2.5 GPA
  • Strong critical thinking and research skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to both collaborate with a team and work independently
  • Self-starter with ability to adapt to a fast-paced work environment
  • Ability to travel, as needed
